The host of Cal schol.com is Mark G. Bilby, tenure-track Senior Assistant Librarian in Scholarly Communication at California State University, Fullerton. Mark completed his MSLIS at Drexel University in 2015 and before that his Ph.D. in Religious Studies (Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity) at the University of Virginia in 2012.

His Library and Information Science interests run the gamut of Scholarly Communication: Open Access Policies, Linked Open Data and Permanent Identifiers (esp. ORCID and DOIs), Web Archiving, Institutional Repositories, Data Management Planning, Open Educational Resources, Library Publishing, and Digital Humanities.
